Slavia heads the league for the first time since 2009

Slavia, under new coach Miroslav Beránek, continued their dream start to the season as they beat Liberec. Liberec, after drawing their first two games of the season, failed to remedy Thursday’s elimination in the third qualifying round of the Europa liga by Astra Giurgiu.

At Eden, Balaj opened the scoring for Slavia with Šural levelling the score before the break. Zmrhal made it 2:1 with fifteen minutes to go before Škoda added two more at the end.

Sparta returned to their winning ways after their elimination from the Champions League by Malmo. The only goal of the game came from captain David Lafata in 71^st minute to give Sparta their third win of the season.

‘’The victory was very important to us after our loss to Malmo in the Champions League. The atmosphere around the team is positive and we wanted to show the fans that we haven’t forgotton how to win,’’ said Sparta coach Vítězslav Lavička after the match.

Plzeň remedied their elimination from the Europa liga as they thrashed newcomers to the league České Budějovice 4:0. Three goals came in the first-half with Řezník, Chramosta and Kolář all finding the back of the net. In the second-half, Chramosta added his second and Plzeň’s fourth to complete the rout.

Mladá Boleslav could only manage a goalless draw against league newcomers Hradec Králové to continue their disappointing start to the season. Hradec were the better team throughout the match but their lack of goalscoring prowess was evident. 

‘’For us, it feels like a loss.  We could have won the match 5:0 as we created three chances in the first-half and two good chances after the break.  I believe it is only a matter of time before we score and win,’’ said Hradec’s Jakub Chleboun.
