Jan Beránek moves to Plzeň from Ostrava on three-and-a- half year contractPlzeň have reinforced their side at the start of the winter break by signing defender Jan Beránek from Ostrava. He will sign a three-and-a-half year contract should he pass the medical examination.

Jan Beránek moves to Plzeň from Ostrava on three-and-a- half year contract

Plzeň have been interested in Beránek for a long time
confirmed general manager of Viktoria, Adolf Šádek. ‘’We have had our eye on Jan for a long time. He is a very promising footballer, who has proved himself at Baník,’’ Sádek commented on the club’s website.

Beránek himself was interested in the move to Plzeň. ‘’Crucial to the negotiations was Beránek’s desire to advance his football career,’’ said Šádek. Foreign teams had also expressed an interest in the player.

Beránek said that he believed the move to Plzeň was the
right move and he was looking forward to competing for the title and in European competition. However, in Plzeň he will have to fight for his place in the team. ‘’Plzeň have a lot of quality footballers and it will not be easy,’’ said Beránek.

Beránek’s agent, Viktor Kolár, was also excited about the move. ‘’Honza proved himself at Ostrava and he was a pillar in defense,’’ he said. ‘’He gained valuable experience at Ostrava and his next goal is to participate in European competition with Plzeň next year,’’ added Kolář.
