Summary 16th round: Plzeň finish one point clear of Sparta going into the winter break

Plzeň struggled to get going in the first-half, but eventually took the lead through Tecl. Jablonec equalised with a goal from Kopic before Řezník scored the winner for Plzeň two minutes into injury time.

"I have to praise the player for their performance, especially in the second-half. We started to see the light at the end of the tunnel, and were rewarded with three points.  We already knew the Sparta result and were determined not to settle for a draw,’’ said Plzeň coach Miroslav Koubek. 

"Of course I am disappointed that we lost the match, especially with a goal in the 92^nd minute. That hurts,’’ said Jablonec coach Jaroslav Šilhavý. "The players were looking for the win, but in the end Plzeň proved the stronger side," he added.

Sparta confirmed their superiority in their match against Jihlava as they beat their rivals 2:0. Sparta’s goals came from Hušbauer and Brabec. Jihlava’s Kukol was sent off after an hour, after receiving two yellow cards..

The only blot on the match was an injury to Sparta captain Lafata, who was substituted in the 17^th minute of the game.  "At the moment, we do not know the extent of David’s injuries, but tomorrow he will undergo a medical examination and we should know more," said Sparta coach Vítězslav Lavička, who would like him not to miss their upcoming Europa liga play-off match against Bern in less than two weeks.

Jihlava have other worries as they are currently eleventh in the league, three points above the relegation zone.
